to all my fans and friends in and around Frankfurt,
before I will be heading to Philadelphia in a few days I'd like to thank everyone for their great support over the many years I have been playing for Eintracht Frankfurt.
After almost two decades with Eintracht I have not really thought that I would ever be changing clubs in my career again. However, after the great meetings I had with the representatives of Philadelphia Union I did not hesitate and accepted their offer.
I am now 39 years old and if I had not taken this decision now I would have never made that move. I had always been looking for such a challenge towards the end of my active career and I am very pleased that I am now able to make a dream come true for me.
It goes without saying that Eintracht Frankfurt will always have a special place in my heart ... "Once an Eagle means forever an Eagle". I am very happy that I was able to make my contribution to a successful season 2012 / 2013 in the last games and the team was able to come in at sixth place and qualify for the Europa-League. I am wishing the team a great season 2013 / 14 and a lot of success in the national and international tournaments and am looking forward to returning home after the MLS finishes the season in October / November.
I have been overwhelmed by the positive feedback and compliments I have received via phone, email, Facebook and Eintracht-Forum by so many of you. Unfortunatly I won't be able to thank everyone individually and thus want to express my special "thank you" and appreciation with this message.
I will keep you updated on any news during my stay in the US via my homepage and am wishing you all the best. We will be in touch.
